Frosted Sugar Cookies

Instead of studying for finals last night, I baked and decorated holiday cookies with my roommate. Productivity at its greatest...

BUT, it was so fun that I think I'm going to do this every December!

For Andy, my roommate's boyfriend's roommate.
For Norman, my roommate's boyfriend. It's an "N", not a "Z".

Frosted Sugar Cookies

Makes 3-4 dozen cookies

  • 4½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 4½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • 1½ cups (3 sticks) butter, at room temperature
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 5 tsp. vanilla extract

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, and sugar. Whisk
  2. With slightly melted butter, beat the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer. Add in eggs one at a time.
  3. Blend in vanilla extract.
  4. Incorporate dry ingredients slowly.
  5. Cover and refrigerate dough for approximately 1 hour.

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Line the baking sheets with parchment paper or baking mats.
  3. Scoop a quarter cup of dough and roll into a ball.
  4. Flatten the ball slightly and place on parchment paper/baking mat, spacing cookies 2-3 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer to wire rack to cool.
